Learning SwiftUI - Days 40 and 41 of 100
This week has been an exercise in battling myself to follow my schedule and routines. It has not always worked. Thus, yesterday, a day in which I did not even attempt to do day 40. So I’ll do two today because it will make me feel better. I don’t know why this week has been a struggle, but next week will be better (and if it’s not, it’s time to find why).
I worked my way through all of Moonshot. It was overwhelming to say the least, but I got through it. A lot going on there. I think I’ll need to spend extra time on the challenges on Monday. Hope you have a great weekend

Learning SwiftUI - Day 39 of 100
Well I could have done that yesterday. 🤦♀️ Quick lesson, I think it took ten minutes. Ah well.
The lesson covered ScrollViews and GeometryReader, two interesting views I’m sure I’ll be using in the future. Also covered was more complicated JSON and Codable structures, so that’s interesting.
Anyway. Good lesson. Excited to get into Moonshot!

Unplanned Day Off From Learning SwiftUI
Would you look at that? It’s 4:30pm and I’ve not done my SwiftUI lesson. Things got a bit crazy today at work—I accidentally hit “Undo pending changes” in my change control environment
—so I had no time to even think about opening my laptop until the Apple Event. And, well, afternoons are scattershot for me.
So, I’m okay missing a day. I’m going to go update my little calendar so it doesn’t look like I’m a day behind, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Learning SwiftUI - Day 38 of 100
I’m running about an hour behind, but that’s okay—I had a very good chat with some family this morning—so, let me just fly through this blog post.
Wrap up for iExpense. I enjoyed the challenges, they’re getting more intuitive as I learn more of the language. I wanted to go back and work on MultiplicAnimals some more, but like I said, running behind, maybe I’ll do some later this week.
I’m still having fun learning Swift. It’s a blast.

Learning SwiftUI - Day 37 of 100
Building out iExpense was the main topic of today’s lesson, and honestly, it’s one of the first lessons where I feel like I’m beginning to see how a huge, multipage app is made. I’ve picked up some things I want to bring back to MultiplicAnimals because I went above & beyond again and made myself a little crazy.
Anyway, I’m happy it’s Friday. I need a break.

Learning SwiftUI - Day 36 of 100
Okay so… I didn’t do much on my project yesterday. A lot of factors were involved, but for the most part, it was my fault (put the phone away during learning time, Madi).
… I finished writing that sentence and picked up my phone. UGH. It’s in a drawer now.
So, back to what I was saying. I didn’t do much of my project. So today is going to be a replay of day 35, plus day 36. The first day of a project, as day 36 is, is always simpler, so I did that, and I went back to working on my MultiplicAnimals app. It’s not near finished today, either, but I’m having fun writing it for sure. Maybe I’ll get to more tomorrow.
(Also this blog post took me hours to write……… I took my phone out of the drawer)

Learning SwiftUI - Day 35 of 100
It’s a milestone day! Yay!
The challenge today is to build a edutainment multiplication app with configurable settings. I’m diving in, working on it for some portion of the day. I doubt I’ll finish it today, but I’m having fun with it already.
(I have been switching up my routine, can you tell? I’m having trouble with this new routine and my posts are coming out later and later.)

Learning SwiftUI - Day 34 of 100
Challenge day for animations. Woof. I did have some fun with the first two challenges — make the correct flag from GuessTheFlag spin when you get it right and then make the other two dim in opacity. Both of those look excellent.
The one I’m struggling on is my own choice. I want to animate a red capsule covering up the selected incorrect answer. I’ve got red capsules covering up the flags, but they’re covering all of them, and then opacity is dimming anyway and woof. It’s been like two hours so I’m calling it for today but I do love playing with it.
(Yes, I know it’s an order problem in there somewhere, but I’m focused on getting it only on the selected answer right now, then I’ll figure out the other issues!)

Learning SwiftUI - Day 33 of 100
Another day, another fun play-around with animations. These are truly super interesting aspects of SwiftUI, and I’d love to dive deep and learn more. Especially because I’d like to learn the design language around animations.
There was a brief thing about drag gestures too, for which I’m really excited.
Feels like every day is a milestone now. I’ll be a little over a third of a way done tomorrow!

Learning SwiftUI - Day 32 of 100
Well, animations are just a blast. The first two sections of the lesson teach you how to make the fun animations used in Mini Metro and Mini Motorways — where the circle pulses from stations or destinations that need more pickups. Then it dives into different animation types and I played with them because they’re exciting.
This is a technical project, and the first “hard” one, but I had fun for the first day.
Anyway, I’m taking a mental health day tomorrow, and that includes my side projects! See you Monday
